Social media
Twitter, Facebook, Google Plus, Pinterest, LinkedIn and Instagram. These are some of the most popular social media platforms more and more businesses are learning to embrace. And why not. Social media is an invaluable tool for businesses and, if used correctly, can really help a business to take off.
Social media is an effective means of building new relationships and can help to improve relationships with existing clients and customers. But that’s not all. The right social media strategy will help to drive relevant traffic to a website, improving engagement with a view to increasing sales.
The main benefits of social media are:
- it can help to improve brand awareness
- it’s a great way to gain an insight into clients and customer opinions
- it’ll help to increase website traffic and engagement
- it’s a cost-effective marketing tool
- it’s a means of being able to reach a wider audience
- helps a business to connect with clients on a more personal level
- can lead to increased sales which in turn leads to profitability.
So which social media platform (or platforms) should you choose? It’s an important question. If your business falls into the fashion, design, hospitality and food and beverage industries – which need to embrace visual storytelling – then visually rich sites like Instagram and Pinterest can work wonders. Whilst pretty much anyone looking to promote, inform and connect can find a home with Twitter’s 280-character format.
Generally speaking, whatever the platform, visual posts tend to perform better compared to text-only posts. However, no social media campaign will be an overnight success. It takes time and effort to build an online presence and you have to be willing to put in the time and the effort. Which is where I come in! I’ve worked with a number of businesses, both big and small, helping them to utilise social media platforms effectively.
